Hanze Hogeschool student Samuel Wong chosen as treasurer of KIVI Students. Read all about Samuel and his vision for KIVI here.

Hi, I am Samuel and I am incredibly proud to become part of the KIVI students board as a treasurer. Engineering has been my lifetime hobby and interest. From a very young age, I have been exploring machines and things in life while expanding my skills and interests. I picked Mechanical Engineering as my major of study because it involves a lot of critical thinking and problem-solving skills and because I have an interest in physical machining.

Originally from Hong Kong, I have been studying an applied engineering program at an international school. Currently, I am in my first year of studying at Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen, hoping to continue my study with hands on experience.

Besides engineering, I am also a mountainbike enthusiast. Whenever my bike has any issues after the ride, I will try and fix it myself. I also made many upgrades to my bike which involves disassembling the entire rear triangle and headset etc. I have also made some innovative ideas which involved designing a CAD model and 3D print the parts with my very own 3D printer. I gained a lot of experience because of that, and I wanted to share some of my knowledge with more bikers in Hong Kong. Therefore, I opened an online advisory through social media to allow bikers to communicate with each other and also give advice on bike maintenance and repairs.

By joining KIVI students, I hope to expand my network with different engineers in the Netherlands. My vision as a board member is to bring the national and international students of engineering together, by creating more opportunities for us to work and collaborate in different aspects. Ultimately, creating an even better environment for students studying engineering in the nation!
