Learning at the Wireless Edge
Wireless networks can be used as platforms for machine learning, taking advantage of the fact that data is often collected at the edges of networks, and also mitigating the latency and privacy concerns that back hauling data to the cloud can entail. A number of open problems will also be discussed.

De vraag welke rol thuis- en buurtbatterijen kunnen spelen in het energiesysteem is actueler dan ooit. De kans is groot dat deze batterijen in de komende jaren snel in aantal zullen toenemen. Gaat het minder snel? Dan zorgt de mogelijkheid van laden én ontladen door elektrische auto’s (bidirectioneel laden) wel voor een snelle groei van opslagcapaciteit op lokaal niveau. Lokale opslag van energie kan helpen het energiesysteem te balanceren, maar kan ook voor problemen op het net zorgen. Dit vraagt om een goed nabuurschap in het gebruik van thuis- en buurtbatterijen. Emma Gerritse Stedin ging hier uitgebreid op in.

Slides and recording E Lunch Webinar: DC power grids in industry will solve grid congestion?
In today's world, most end devices are already powered by direct current (DC). Both charging stations and electric drives in industrial environments work with direct current generated by alternating current. By connecting to the DC grid, it is also possible to feed the braking energy of a system back into the grid as electrical power. Produced surpluses are collected in energy storage systems and, if necessary, fed back into the grid. As a result, the feed-in capacity is reduced by up to 80%. In addition, both peak load and load on the public grid can be reduced. Tobias Lüke Technical Project & Technology Management at Phoenix Contact, would like to explain the role DC grids play in the electricity supply of industry.
