Most countries believe that increasing trade, particularly export trade, is essential for economic growth. Total world exports today are more than four times bigger than they were in 1990, which indicates that some countries are being very successful at increasing exports. It is not surprising that the top exporting countries are also the top countries with regard to supply chain and logistics performance. Understanding how supply chain and logistics performance impacts trade is critical to both traders and countries who what to increase exports. It is also critical to understand what elements of logistics performance need improvement and how to make this improvement. These are the issues addressed in this presentation.

The presentation will focus on following questions:
* What are the mega trends relating to global transportation and trade?
* How do these trends impact supply chain complexity?
* Why has transportation caused a fundamental inventory shift in global supply chains?
* What will be the impact of changes in infrastructure such as expanding the Panama
