The Royal Netherlands Society of Engineers (KIVI) supports engineers in their career development and offers a wide range of services, activities and opportunities to accommodate all our members and their interests. In cooperation with several firms we offer you these services.
KIVI Engineers’ Coaches
Are you considering making a career move to a managerial position? Do you want to work abroad, but don’t know what steps to take? Or do you have the ambition to start your own business and you need someone to hold a mirror up to you? As a member of KIVI, you can contact one of the KIVI Engineers’ Coaches for all these questions and more.
Engineers’ Coaches are experienced engineers and men-tors that can advise and guide you at any stage in your career. Over 100 Engineer Coaches, working in various positions in different disciplines and across the whole country are at your disposal. As independent experts they encourage, reflect and inspire in relation to your particular situation, helping you to increase your understanding of your personal qualities. They can also give practical advice on job applications and check your CV.

Trainings and courses
Do you want to further develop within or outside your professional field? KIVI offers discounts on several courses. For example, you can deepen your knowledge at Stichting Post-Academisch Onderwijs (PAO) by attending short courses and postgraduate courses. PAO offers courses on almost all engineering disciplines, technical management and personal skills. Additionally KIVI has agreements with TSM Business School, the federation of the four Dutch technical universities (4TU.Federation) and other institutes. KIVI itself organizes the training session ‘Boost your career’, several times a year.
An international professional qualification:
Chartered Engineer and Incorporated Engineer
Chartership is an opportunity for excellent and dedicated engineers to distinguish themselves. It is proof of your competence, commitment and that you attain and maintain a professional quality standard. In the Netherlands it is only possible to attain Chartership status through KIVI, and obtain the title Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer.

Discount on various tech magazines and books
KIVI has its own tech magazine and vivid online community De Ingenieur. The Dutch magazine gives an update on the latest developments of technological developments in our society. The magazine is included in the KIVI membership. Next to that KIVI offers its members discount on noumerous Dutch technical magazines and the English magazine Automotive Engineer.
Stichting Toekomstbeeld der Techniek was founded by KIVI. They publish on the future of technology. Furthermore KIVI members get a 17% discount on publications of Stichting Maatschappij en Onderneming. They publish on recent economic, political and social-cultural developments (most publications in Dutch).
Legal Assistance for engineers
As an engineer, you sometimes have to deal with legal workrelated questions. A labor dispute with your employer, a damage claim for after an accident or other legal issues usually re-quire a lot of time and special expertise. Professional counselling can help you save time and money. In collaboration with law firm Delissen Martens, KIVI offers its members discount on legal advice, the intake is for free.

Discount on Dutch insurances
KIVI, in cooperation with SAA Insurances, has put together a tailored insurance package for engineers. The package includes insurances in the areas of care, injury, disability, income, pension and life insurance. When applying for multiple insurance policies, you receive a discount on the insurance and on your KIVI membership fee.
