Uitreiking Vederprijs 2024 aan Anouk Hubrechsen
De Vederprijs gaat dit jaar naar Anouk Hubrechsen van de Technische Universiteit Eindhoven voor haar werk aan ‘Antenna Measurements in mmWave Reverberation Chambers’. Bijna ieder jaar reikt de Stichting Wetenschappelijk Radio-fonds Veder de Vederprijs uit aan één of meer Nederlandse wetenschappers, die zich buitengewoon verdienstelijk hebben gemaakt op het gebied van radio- of aanverwante wetenschappen of technieken.

Mini symposium about aerospace: Telecom EU Clipper, Blue Origin and Lunar Zebro
In the morning of the PhD defense of Niels Vertegaal (Wednesday May 1st), a mini symposium will be organized in the Auditorium (TU/e campus) on aerospace. The symposium will be held between 10:00 and 12:30 in the Senaatzaal, Auditorium TU/e Campus. All the external members of the committee have agreed to give a talk on their work, company and/or research.

Learning at the Wireless Edge
Wireless networks can be used as platforms for machine learning, taking advantage of the fact that data is often collected at the edges of networks, and also mitigating the latency and privacy concerns that back hauling data to the cloud can entail. A number of open problems will also be discussed.

CWTe: Phased array radar for extreme weather analysis and prediction (PHARA)
Radar has been proven to be a very useful remote sensing technology for precipitation, cloud droplet and ice-crystal measurements. However, traditional radar cannot separate individual microphysical processes in the atmosphere without making strong assumptions, leading to errors in interpretations. That is why we are working on a fast-scanning phased-array radar at Ku-band with polarization diversity (PHARA).
