Van contract tot realisatie: dijkversterking Afsluitdijk

Vaar mee en zie de vernieuwde dijkbekleding vanaf de Waddenzee

Dit jaar bestaat de Afsluitdijk 90 jaar. De Afsluitdijk wordt klaargemaakt voor de toekomst. Aan de kant van de Waddenzee versterken we de dijk met 70.000 speciaal voor de Afsluitdijk ontwikkelde, innovatieve betonblokken: Levvel-blocs. Deze blokken zijn zo sterk, dat ze de golven die tijdens een zware storm tegen de dijk slaan kunnen weerstaan. De dijk wordt met 2 meter verhoogd en wordt overslagbestendig. Sinds 2019 werken we aan de versterking en vernieuwing van de Afsluitdijk. Eind 2022 is de dijkversterking zo goed als klaar. Maar wat ging hieraan vooraf? Van contract tot realisatie, kom erachter op 5, 6 of 7 september aanstaande. KIVI staat in principe op de planning voor de dinsdag, echter mogen KIVI-leden ook op andere dagen aansluiten.

Kijkje in de keuken

Wij nodigen jou, als KIVI lid, graag uit om vanaf het water een kijkje te nemen in de keuken van project Afsluitdijk. We nemen je mee van contract tot realisatie van de dijkversterking. Naast de dijkversterking vertellen we ook hoe en waarom we een coupure in de dijk maken voor de Vismigratierivier. Collega’s die meewerken aan het project geven de volgende presentaties:

Deze dag wordt aangeboden door bouwconsortium Levvel (BAM, Van Oord, Rebel en Invesis) en Rijkswaterstaat. Deze dag is bedoeld om kennis te delen met en door waterbouwers.

Locatie

De boot ‘Regina Andrea’ vertrekt vanaf Den Oever. Twee weken voor vertrek ontvang je per e-mail meer informatie over de precieze locatie in de haven.

Een groot deel van Nederland ligt onder de zeespiegel. Dat maakt ons land kwetsbaar voor overstromingen. De Afsluitdijk beschermt sinds 1932 grote delen van Nederland tegen overstroming vanuit de zee. Maar de dijk is aan vernieuwing toe. Hij voldoet niet aan de huidige wettelijke normen voor waterveiligheid. Ook moet er meer water worden afgevoerd. Daarom werkt Rijkswaterstaat aan de versterking en vernieuwing van de Afsluitdijk. Zodat Nederland ook in de toekomst beschermd is tegen het water.

From contract to construction: dike reinforcement Afsluitdijk

Sail along and see the renewed dike revetment from the Wadden Sea

The Afsluitdijk has protected a large part of the Netherlands against the force of water for 90 years. The Afsluitdijk is now being prepared for the future. We are reinforcing the dike on the Wadden Sea side with 70,000 innovative concrete blocks – Levvel-blocs – especially developed for the Afsluitdijk. These blocks are so strong that they are able to withstand the waves that may crash against the dike during a heavy storm. We will increase the height of the dike by almost two metres. In addition, the dike will be able to withstand surge overflows. This means that it is not serious when water surges across the dike during a heavy storm. A look behind the scenes

We would like to invite you, as a (future/ civil) engineer to take a look behind the scenes of the Afsluitdijk project from a boot overlooking the renewed revetment. You can listen to presentations about the early beginning of the project until now, the construction phase. A hole in the dam? You heard it right. The Afsluitdijk protects our country against the water, but also poses an obstruction to many types of fish. The Fish Migration River will ensure that fish will be able to swim from salt to fresh water again.

This day is offered by the Levvel construction consortium (BAM, Van Oord, Rebel and Invesis) and Rijkswaterstaat. This day is intended to share knowledge with and by hydraulic engineers.

Location

The boat 'Regina Andrea' departs from Den Oever. Two weeks before departure you will receive more information by e-mail about the exact location in the port.

A large part of the Netherlands lies below sea level. That makes our country vulnerable to flooding. Since 1932, the Afsluitdijk has protected large parts of the Netherlands from flooding by the sea. However, the dike is due for regeneration. It no longer complies with current legislated water safety standards. In addition, greater amounts of water must be drained. This is why Rijkswaterstaat (the executive agency of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, dedicated to promote safety, mobility and the quality of life in the Netherlands) is working on reinforcing and renovating the Afsluitdijk. This way the Netherlands will also be protected against water in the future.
