This year on 19 February Sjoerd Vollebregt, CEO of Stork/Fokker, gave the opening lecture of De Delftse Bedrijvendagen to kick off the Presentation Days. In his inspiring lecture about technology and his career path he gave valuable tips to the students present for their own career path "Stay true to yourself and be prepared to work hard. It will be worth it!"

Sjoerd Vollebregt was born in 1954 in The Netherlands. After finishing secondary school, he went to the TU Delft for Academie voor Lichamelijke Opvoering (Physical Education). He continued his study in Rotterdam at the Erasmus University, where he studied economics. Since 2002 he has been the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Stork.

Stork is the overall name of Fokker Aerospace and Stork Technical Services, but its earliest history dates back to the formation in 1827 of the Nederlandse Fabriek van Werktuigen en Spoorwegmaterieel (Dutch machine and railway equipment works), in brief: Werkspoor, which later also became the official name. Aerospace activities were added to this list in 1996, thanks to the acquisition of the Fokker companies specialising in the building of aircraft components and integrated aircraft maintenance services. A strategic reorientation at the beginning of 2000 led to a structure with 5 groups, focusing on digital (textile) printing technologies, poultry processing/fast food, aerospace, industrial components and technical services. In 2004 Sork sold the Industrial Components Group; so now there are four groups left.

After the lecture KIVI NIRIA Students Delft manned a booth at De Delftse Bedrijvendagen. Many students visisted our booth and got acquianted with the Royal Institute of Engineers KIVI NIRIA and the student board in Delft, KIVI NIRIA Students Delft.
