On December 5, Sinterklaas’ birthday, Daniel Citroen came to Delft to tell about his study and career choices, which led him to work for Rabobank. This was a lecture in the series ‘Engineers in non-technical jobs’, attended by about 100 students. As well as a very personal story, deals on Bonaire and in France, he also told about the changes in the financial sector and its indicators. These showed that his choice to change from ‘Mergers and Acquisitions’ to ‘Equity Capital Markets’ comes at a good time, now that the world economy shows an upward trend.

Today he is surrounded by three screens filled with graphs and spends a lot of time making presentations and working in Excel. As an engineer he had to gain quite some knowledge about finance, however a lot of the skills were gained through learning on the job. Currently he makes long working hours, but enjoying the dynamic character of an ever-changing sector. The lecture offered an interesting perspective for students who study engineering.
