CAN HYDROGEN PLAY A KEY ROLE IN THE ENERGY MIX OF ARUBA?

This was the title of the presentation given by Miguel Quirino Cabrita on Thursday the 25th of May 2023 at the University of Aruba. And his answer on this question was certainly or yes Hydrogen can play a key role in the energy mix of Aruba. But this Hydrogen has to be green or produced by renewable energy sources like wind and sun. And these sources are abundant in Aruba. So implementation of these sources should be considered. Phase out of the use of Heavy Fuel Oil or HFO is recommended while applying LNG wisely. However, hydrogen produced by LNG are not GREEN.

Apply a stakeholders approach to create acceptance in all communities. Besides that local industries should be approached to assess their interests and feasibility. Establish long term partnership for technology transfer and trade routes.
