The use of natural materials in construction is a hot! More and more natural materials are integrated in all kinds of construction. One very special example of this can be found at the TU/e campus! In Eindhoven the first biocompositie bridge in the world can be found. This innovative concept has been made out of flax (vlas) and hemp fibers (hennepvezels). The bridge is in use for one year. This activity gives you the opportunity to know more about this special construction!
In two presentations and a visit at the bridge you can get to know more about the biocomposite bridge. During the visit at the bridge, a demonstration is given that will show how (dynamic) measurements take place at the bridge. Also the technical details and the experiences with the bridge will be explained by ir. Rijk Blok (researcher and project leader of the 4TU project Fully Bio-based bridge) and Dr. Ir. Eli Voet (projectleader and partner Com&Sens bvba). The company Com&Sens will explain their innovative optic sensor technology (Fibre Brag Grating) and will demonstrate their technology with real life measurements!
