Developments in 5G/6G and microwave photonics at leave of Wim van Etten NUC(URSI)

De International Union of Radio Science (URSI) en de Afdeling voor Telecommunicatie van het KIVI nodigen u uit voor het seminar 5G/6G bij het afscheid van Wim van Etten Voorzitter Nederlands URSI Comité (NUC).

Vorig jaar heeft Wim van Etten zich helaas om gezondheidsredenen genoodzaakt gezien om terug te treden uit het Nederlands URSI Comité (NUC).

Vanwege zijn jarenlange betrokkenheid bij het NUC willen we daar graag even bij stil staan en daarvoor hebben we een seminar georganiseerd, zie uitnodiging aan de NUC-leden onderaan dit bericht.

Een van de zaken waar Wim vanuit het NUC zeer actief in is geweest, zijn de contacten met KIVI-afdeling Telecommunicatie met als hoogtepunt de (bijna) jaarlijkse KIVI-URSI meetings.

Naast deze persoonlijke link is, vanwege Wim’s eigen achtergrond, ook het onderwerp van het seminar interessant voor leden van de afdeling KIVI Telecom. De leden van KIVI zijn dan ook graag van harte uitgenodigd.

Seminar Developments in 5G/6G communications and microwave photonics:

Last year, Wim van Etten indicated that he would like to step down from the NUC and the "Stichting Wetenschappelijke Activiteiten NUC" (SWAN, foundation for scientific activities of the NUC).

For various reasons, we did not find an opportunity to thank him for his many contributions to the NUC and the SWAN yet.

We are now going to make up for it by organising a festive seminar on Friday, September 23 in room 2H of the Carré building on the campus of the University of Twenten (building number 15 on the attached campus map).

You are all cordially invited! In this seminar. Bart Smolders and David Marpaung will reflect on developments in 5G/6G communications and microwave photonics, two topics that build on foundations to which Wim has contributed from the start of his career at the University of Eindhoven and later at the University of Twente.

Before and after the symposium, there will be ample time to meet old and new friends and share memories as indicated by the program for this festive afternoon.

To make appropriate catering arrangements, we would like to know how many people will attend this event.
